去吧，卑微之书。如果有人问起

威廉.梅勒迪思，1919年生于纽约，诗人兼剧作家、翻译家和编辑。毕业于普林斯顿大学，青年时期曾为纽约时报记者，后长期在美国空军服役，并断续进行教学和写作。1964年担任美国诗人学会会长。出版有诗集《欢呼》、《寄自未知地的情书》、《船只及其他事物》等。
